Adam Pascal to play Shakespeare through Jan. 1 closing of ‘Something Rotten!’

NEW YORK, Oct. 12 (UPI) — Rent, Aida and Disaster! star Adam Pascal is taking over the role of William Shakespeare in the Broadway musical Something Rotten!, the show’s producers announced.

He will begin performances Nov. 7 and continue until the production wraps Jan. 1.

“Welcome to the ’90s — the 1590s — long before the dawn of premium tickets, star casting and reminders to turn off your cell phones,” a press release explained. “Brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as ‘The Bard.’ When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theater involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical!”

Something Rotten! co-stars Brad Oscar and Rob McClure.
