Diane Keaton to receive AFI Life Achievement Award

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 (UPI) — Actress, director and author Diane Keaton has been chosen as the recipient of the 45th AFI Life Achievement Award.

The honor will be presented to the 70-year-old Father of the Bride, Annie Hall and Looking for Mr. Goodbar icon at a gala tribute on June 8 in Los Angeles.

“Diane Keaton is one of the most beloved leading ladies of American film,” Howard Stringer, chair of AFI’s board of trustees, said in a statement Thursday. “Peerless in her mastery of both comedy and drama, she has won the world’s heart time and again by creating characters of both great strength and vulnerability. Her career as a director and producer is even further evidence of her passion for the art form and her seemingly boundless talents. AFI is proud to present her with its 45th Life Achievement Award.”

Previous recipients of the prize include John Williams, Jane Fonda, Mel Brooks and Morgan Freeman.
