NEW YORK, Oct. 6 (UPI) — Nickelodeon a announced a brand-new Double Dare special will air in November in honor of the show’s 30th anniversary.
The special commemorating the Nickelodeon game show that launched on Oct. 6, 1986 will feature vintage footage, behind-the-scenes content and footage filmed this year including new games, according to a press release.
Double Dare‘s original host Marc Summers will reunite with the rest of the cast including Harvey the announcer and his right-hand woman, Robin.
“Double Dare was the show for a particular generation,” Summers said. “For the kids of the ’80s and ’90s, they laughed and learned, and got messy in the process. Thirty years later, I believe it’s still the gold standard.”
The show originally aired from 1986-1993 and featured teams of two competing by answering trivia questions, completing physical challenges and navigating an obstacle course.
The special will air on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 9 p.m. on Nick at Nite as part of a block of Holiday programming set to include a film based on another hit ’90s Nickelodeon game show Legends of the Hidden Temple.
A live Double Dare event featuring Summers was also held at San Diego Comic-Con in July of this year.
