Report: Bills owners spoke to players without Rex Ryan before firing offensive coordinator

Before offensive coordinator Greg Roman was fired, Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula spoke to offensive players without head coach Rex Ryan present, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reports

The morning after Buffalo’s Thursday night loss to the Jets, the Pegulas met with “several offensive standouts” including quarterback Tyrod Taylor, according to the report.

Rapoport says his sources disagree as to whether the owners called the meetings to determine whether Ryan planned to fire Roman or if the owners came to Ryan with the suggestion.

“After every single game I meet with ownership and this morning, I met today, and I informed ownership of my decision and they were supportive of it and that’s when I had the conversation with Greg,” Ryan told reporters on Friday, adding that it was “my move without question.”

Greg Roman’s firing leaves Rex Ryan alone with the Bills’ mounting mess

Roman, 44, was in his second season as the Bills’ offensive coordinator. He had two years and $4 million remaining on his contract.

Roman was previously the offensive coordinator for the 49ers under Jim Harbaugh.
