Josh Norman responds to criticism from Giants, Victor Cruz

Redskins cornerback Josh Norman responded Thursday to critical comments from the rival Giants and receiver Victor Cruz made on Wednesday.

Norman was asked about Cruz’s remarks, which pertained to his apparent unwillingness to cover Steelers star Antonio Brown on Monday night.

“When you’re at the top of your profession, someone is always trying to grab at you just because they’re not at the top of your profession,” Norman told reporters. “You just have to extend down your arm and hand them an olive branch.”

The Redskins and Giants don’t play until Week 3. Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins was also critical of Norman. The beef goes back to last season, when Norman was a member of the Panthers and repeatedly clashed with Giants star wideout Odell Beckham Jr. in a late-season game.

“Crazy thing is, I guess if you say something, you get yourself on TV — cause I’m always on,” Norman added. “Add up the number of people who are saying something against me, compared to how many I say something to them, you’ll see the vast number of people. Wow.”
