Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone start shooting college comedy ‘Life of the Party’

BURBANK, Calif., Sept. 10 (UPI) — Principal photography is underway in Atlanta on Life of the Party, a big-screen comedy starring Melissa McCarthy and directed by her husband Ben Falcone, New Line Cinema announced.

McCarthy and Falcone co-wrote the screenplay and will produce the movie through their company On the Day Productions. The film co-stars Gillian Jacobs, Maya Rudolph, Julie Bowen, Molly Gordon, Matt Walsh, Stephen Root, Jacki Weaver, Jessie Ennis, Adria Arjona, Debby Ryan and Jimmy O. Yang.

“When her husband suddenly dumps her, longtime, dedicated housewife Deanna turns regret into re-set by going back to college… landing in the same class and school as her daughter, who’s not entirely sold on the idea,” a synopsis said. “Plunging headlong into the campus experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna — now Dee Rock — embraces freedom, fun and frat boys on her own terms, finding her true self in a senior year no one ever expected.”

The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
