LAUDERHILL, Fla., Sept. 5 (UPI) — A neighborhood in South Florida was rocked this afternoon when police found three bodies inside a house after being called by neighbors to check on the residents.
Police are investigating the deaths of a father, his adult son and the father’s girlfriend, who they discovered a Lauderhill, Florida, house after neighbors called 911 and are investigating a “heinous” act, though no details of the scene have been released yet.
Mourners slowly lined the street near the house as news spread to family and members of the victims’ church and were being comforted and helped by officers on the scene.
“This is going to be a long investigation,” Lauderhill Police Lt. Greg Solowsky told the Sun-Sentinel. “All of my detectives are out here working 100 percent.”
Police received a 911 call just after 2:00 P.M. Monday to check on the house near Northwest Third Street and 38th Avenue, discovering the bodies inside the house upon arrival.
Detectives said they were unsure how long the deceased had been there, and did not release any details about how they died or if they are searching for suspects, though Solowsky noted there is “no immediate threat to the public.”
“We’re working hand in hand with the family,” Solowsky told reporters around 4:00 P.M. “We don’t have a lot of information that we’re able to release yet just because we’ve just started the investigation.”
The Broward Sheriff’s Office was called in to assist with the investigation and an update on the situation is expected sometime Tuesday.
