Thandie Newton to guest star on Season 4 of the BBC’s ‘Line of Duty’

LONDON, Aug. 27 (UPI) — British actress Thandie Newton is to guest star as Detective Chief Inspector Roz Huntley in Season 4 of World Productions’ Line of Duty.

Filming is scheduled to start in Belfast next month. Returning cast members include Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar. Jason Watkins, Lee Ingleby and Royce Pierreson are also confirmed for the BBC One series, which was created, written and executive produced by Jed Mercurio.

Next season begins with Roz and her team “in the thick of a career-defining case, Operation Trapdoor,” a press release said. “Under intense pressure to catch the culprit and prove herself to her superiors, and facing conflict with her colleague, Forensic Coordinator Tim Ifield, it’s not long before AC-12 decide to probe her handling of the investigation. A mother of two and wife to husband Nick, Roz will do anything to stop her life unravelling. Anything.”

“I watched the last three seasons of Line of Duty with breathless admiration for its creators, both behind and in front of the camera. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining them now,” Newton said in a statement.

“Such exciting news to have Thandie on board. I’m really looking forward to working with her and getting back to Belfast with the team,” McClure added.
