QUINCY, Mass., Aug. 12 (UPI) — Police in Massachusetts helped wrangle a rattlesnake that was spotted outside of a family’s home on Thursday evening.
Quincy Police Department shared a photo of the endangered Timber rattlesnake, which was seen slithering about the residential area.
Video shows a specially trained officer from Massachusetts Environmental Police using a pole to hoist the venomous snake into an orange bucket.
“The snake was contained in a bucket and transported to the Blue HIlls where it was released into its natural habitat,” police wrote.
According to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, rattlesnakes are so uncommon in the state that they are rarely encountered by people.
