Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a hairline fracture in his ribs during the team’s preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, Philadelphia announced Saturday.
The team has not set a timetable for his return, although the hope is that he will be ready before the end of the preseason.
Wentz underwent at CT scan on Saturday after feeling soreness in his ribs during practice. He sustained the injury after taking a hit on his second-to-last pay during the Thursday’s game.
The 23-year-old saw extended time in his first preseason game, completing 12 of 24 passes for 89 yards and an interception.
