NEW YORK, Aug. 11 (UPI) — Laura Benanti is going to be a first-time mom.
The 37-year-old actress announced in a tweet Thursday that she’s pregnant and expecting a baby girl with husband Patrick Brown.
“Doing a little research with @impbrown! Coming this winter… #BabyGirlBrown,” she captioned a photo of herself and Brown reading What to Expect When You’re Expecting.
Benanti and Brown tied the knot in New York in November. The actress had revealed in an op-ed for The Huffington Post prior to her wedding that she and Brown had lost a baby to a miscarriage.
“Why do we not talk about this more?” she wrote. “If this is so common, then why do we speak about it in whispers, if we speak about it at all? If this is so common, why does it feel like the Voldemort of women’s issues? The ‘M’ that must not be named.”
“The loneliness and isolation I’ve experienced in dealing with my miscarriage have given me a deep empathy and gratitude for the women who have opened up to me about their own painful stories,” the star said. “My purpose in writing this is simply to say, if you are part of this sisterhood, you are not alone.”
Benanti has starred in such Broadway productions as Into the Woods, Gypsy and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. She also played Sadie Stone on Nashville and Astra/Alura on Supergirl.
