MARACAY, Venezuela, Aug. 5 (UPI) — At least five inmates were killed and 30 others were injured when two bombs were thrown into a Venezuelan prisoner care facility.

Venezuela’s Public Ministry announced it deployed four prosecutors to investigate the “irregular situation” at the AlayĆ³n Center for the Care of the Detained in the north-central city of Maracay on Wednesday.

“In this regard, representatives of the institution will coordinate a series of actions and expertise to verify the health status of injured persons and to clarify the facts and determine the corresponding criminal responsibilities,” the public ministry said in a statement, adding that a preliminary investigation found suspects threw two explosives into the yard of the prison center.
