Mental exam ordered for accused serial killer of San Diego homeless

LOS ANGELES A San Diego man charged with attacking five homeless men by driving railroad spikes into his victims’ heads, killing three of them, was ordered on Tuesday to undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine if he is mentally competent, a prosecutor said.

Jon David Guerrero, 39, who is also accused of setting fire to two of his victims, was arrested on July 15 as the lone suspect in a violent crime spree that terrorized the homeless community of California’s second-largest city. He is charged with three counts of murder, two of attempted murder and two counts of arson.
