David Spade to preside over Rob Lowe’s Comedy Central roast

NEW YORK, July 25 (UPI) — Saturday Night Live alum David Spade will lead the comic skewering of actor Rob Lowe in a televised roast, Comedy Central said Monday.

“This is gonna get ugly. And I’m starting to think that’s the whole point. #RobRoast on #LoweFlame,” Lowe tweeted.

The Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe will be taped at California’s Sony Studios on Aug. 27. It will air on the network Labor Day, Sept. 5.

“Comedy Central asked a bunch of ugly guys to make fun of a good-looking guy. I said ‘yes’ right away. Then I realized I wasn’t the good-looking guy,” Spade said in a statement about Lowe, his co-star in the comedy film Tommy Boy.

Previous roast subjects include Denis Leary, Justin Bieber, James Franco, Charlie Sheen, Roseanne, William Shatner and Donald Trump.

New Code Black co-star Lowe is best known for his work on the TV shows The Grinder, Parks and Recreation, Brothers Sisters and The West Wing. He is also a former teen idol who appered in the classic 1980s movies The Outsiders, St. Elmo’s Fire and About Last Night.
