Teresa Palmer wanted to sleep with light on after ‘Lights Out’ filming

NEW YORK, July 18 (UPI) — Australian actress Teresa Palmer says she understands why people are terrified by her critically acclaimed new horror movie Lights Out.

“Your eyes play tricks on you. I certainly know that mine did while I was filming. I would come home and be like, ‘Let’s just sleep with a night light on tonight.’ My husband was like: ‘This is crazy. You’re in the movie, you see how it works. You know what’s going on. Why are you so scared?'” the actress laughed in a recent phone interview with UPI. “But Diana has a way of getting into your nightmares and into your thoughts and just sort of implanting herself there. So, it can be really terrifying.”

Directed by David F. Sandberg and co-starring Maria Bello, Alexander DiPersia, Gabriel Bateman, Lotta Losten and Billy Burke, Lights Out opens nationwide Friday. The film follows a young woman as she attempts to unravel the mystery of a malevolent spirit, which hates light and plagues her family when the sun goes down.
