LOS ANGELES, July 18 (UPI) — Universal Pictures released Monday a new trailer for The Girl on the Train, its upcoming film adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ best-selling novel.

The 2 1/2-minute clip features cast members Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, Haley Bennett, Justin Theroux, Luke Evans, Allison Janney, Edgar Ramirez, Lisa Kudrow and Laura Prepon.

“In the thriller, Rachel, who is devastated by her recent divorce, spends her daily commute fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day, until one morning she sees something shocking happen there and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds,” a synopsis accompanying the trailer on YouTube explained.

The trailer shows Blunt’s character Rachel appearing upset and confused as she is grilled by numerous people regarding exactly what she knows about a woman’s disappearance.

The film was helmed by Tate Taylor and is set for release Oct. 7.
