‘Uncle Buck’ canceled at ABC after one season

NEW YORK, July 7 (UPI) — Comedy series Uncle Buck has been canceled at ABC after one season.

According to Variety, the network aired the last episode of the sitcom starring comedian Mike Epps on Tuesday after running off the eight-episode season over four weeks by airing two episodes a night on Tuesdays at 9 and 9:30 p.m.

Star James Lesure revealed the cancellation on Twitter Wednesday before ABC confirmed the news writing, “Disappointed. No more @ABCUncleBuck. Cancelled. Thankful to have worked with @ABCNetwork. Proud of what we’ve done. Thx 4 let us entertain u.”

Uncle Buck, based on the 1989 film featuring John Candy of the same name, also starred Nia Long, Iman Benson, Sayeed Shahidi and Aalyrah Caldwell. The series focused on Epps as an irresponsible Uncle who was tasked with taking care of his niece and nephew after he moved into their home.
