NEW YORK, July 1 (UPI) — Keri Russell is opening up about her new baby.
The 40-year-old actress revealed her newborn’s name and sex Friday on the Today show after welcoming the infant with partner and The Americans co-star Matthew Rhys in May.
“We had a boy,” she told host Matt Lauer. “[His name is] Sam. He’s so good. He’s big and fat and nice.”
Russell is also mom to 9-year-old son River and 4-year-old daughter Willa with ex-husband Shane Dreary, from whom she split in 2013. The actress made her post-baby red carpet debut at the 2016 Tony Awards in June.
“Keri and Matt both look overjoyed and are over the moon to be new parents,” a source told Us Weekly after Sam’s birth. “They are always snapping pictures of the baby, and family and friends have been sending gifts.”
The Hollywood Walk of Fame announced this week that Russell and 33 other entertainment figures will receive stars in 2017. The actress reacted to the news during her appearance on Today.
“I know, whoa! I just heard about it. Pretty cool,” she said.
Russell and Rhys play Elizabeth and Philip Jennings on The Americans, which aired its Season 4 finale last month. The FX series was renewed for two final seasons in May and will come to a close in 2018.
