NEW YORK, June 29 (UPI) — AMC has announced it renewed its Texas-set, supernatural series Preacher for a 13-episode, second season.
Fresh installments are slated to debut in 2017. The show is currently in its first season, with Dominic Cooper starring as Jesse Custer, Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy, Ruth Negga as Tulip, Lucy Griffiths as Emily, W. Earl Brown as Sheriff Root, Anatol Yusef as DeBlanc, Tom Brooke as Fiore, Derek Wilson as Donnie Schenck and Ian Colletti as Eugene/Arseface.
The Sony Pictures Television-AMC Studios co-production was developed for the small screen by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Sam Catlin is the showrunner for Preacher.
“Preacher is a special television program and we’re eager to share with fans the rest of this wild first season and, now, an expanded second season,” Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios, said in a statement Wednesday. “What Sam, Seth, Evan and the entire creative team have achieved in bringing Garth Ennis’ graphic novel to the screen is extraordinary. We look forward to more time with these unforgettable characters be it in Heaven, Hell, Texas or beyond.”
