Bryan Cranston on Zordon role in ‘Power Rangers’: ‘He still has a heart and mind’

LOS ANGELES, June 28 (UPI) — Bryan Cranston has revealed more details about his upcoming role as Zordon in Lionsgate’s long-awaited Power Rangers film reboot.

“It’s motion capture, and it’s a lot of CGI-work,” the actor explained to Entertainment Tonight Monday while discussing his latest film, The Infiltrator.

“The tenant of that storyline is that this a real person who is trapped in this etherworld and it becomes this in-the-wall so to speak of [the command center],” he continued about Zordon’s origin.

“He still has a heart and mind, but an agenda that he’s got to get these five Power Rangers to defend the earth or else everyone they know will be killed.”

Zordon was a popular character in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television show from the 90s, portrayed as a floating, ghostly looking head who would lead and give advice the young heroes as they battled the evil Rita Repulsa.

Cranston was recently cast in the role noting on Twitter, “Excited to play #Zordon in the #PowerRangersMovie! T or F: #BlueRanger Billy Cranston was named after what actor?”

The Breaking Bad alum has a history with Power Rangers having originally voiced Snizard and Twin Man on the series.

Directed by Dean Israelite, Power Rangers also stars Becky G (Yellow Ranger), Ludi Lin (Black Ranger), Dacre Montgomery (Red Ranger), Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger), RJ Cycler (Blue Ranger) and Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa).

Power Rangers blasts into theaters March 24, 2017.
