The 2016 BET Awards were held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night, and Beyonce kicked off the show with a surprise performance before jetting off to London. Bey and Kendrick Lamar took the stage to perform her song “Freedom,” and after she left, her mom Tina collected her award for Video of the Year for “Formation.”

Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross returned to host the TV event for the second year in a row, and in addition to Bey, performers included Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Future and a star-studded tribute to the late Prince. Beyonce was nominated for four other awards, and Drake, who was nominated for a total of seven, picked up Best Male Hip Hop Artist and Best Collaboration.
