Coast Guard recovers second body, mast in search for missing Florida family

SARASOTA, Fla., June 23 (UPI) — Coast Guard rescue teams recovered a second body Thursday afternoon as the search goes on for survivors of a missing family and their sailboat off Florida’s Gulf Coast.

The unidentified body was pulled from the water around 11 a.m. and less than an hour later, crews located a mast believed to be from the missing sailboat.

Rescue teams found the body of 17-year-old Rebecca Kimberly — who was wearing a life vest — on Wednesday. Her father, Ace, and her brothers, Donny, 15, and and 13-year-old Roger, disappeared on Sunday afternoon after telling family they were caught in six-foot waves and were “attempting to survive.”

The 29-foot sailboat was headed from Sarasota to Fort Myers along Florida’s Gulf Coast and were off the coast of Englewood, Fla. when last heard from.

On Wednesday, Coast Guard officials said search teams had located a debris field in the area that included life vests, a tarp, 4 water bottles, a basketball, at least one tennis shoe and a propane tank.
