Former ‘Voice’ contestant shot after Orlando concert, shooter dead

Authorities in Florida are investigating a shooting that left one dead and another wounded at a concert Friday night.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the shooting was reported at The Plaza Live venue in Orlando at around 10:30 p.m. after a concert by the band Before you Exit and singer, and former contestant on NBC’s “The Voice,” Christina Grimmie.

WKMG-TV reported Grimmie was shot before the suspect turned the gun on himself. The station also reported that the singer’s brother tackled the suspect.

Josh Call, who was working at a vegan hot dog stand outside the venue, told the Sentinel he heard about five gun shots.

“It was quick like pow, pow, pow, pow,” he said.

Call said a security guard rushed to make sure others were out of the area. He said he waited a few minutes and went inside where he saw a female on the ground with blood coming out of her head and saw another person injured.

He said a man was on the floor in a pool of blood and face “completely disfigured.”

“I don’t think anyone expected something like this to happen. It was horrifying,” he added.

Orlando police are still investigating.
