As reported by ESPN, due-to-be second-year Philadelphia Eagles wideout, Nelson Agholor, is being accused of sexually assaulting an exotic dancer. The alleged sexual assault reportedly took place on Thursday afternoon at Cheerleaders Gentlemen’s Club in South-Philadelphia, and police have already launched an investigation into the incident. The Philadelphia Police have yet to confirm whether or not Agholor is the Eagles player being investigated but did confirm that “allegations were made regarding a sexual assault and a member of the Philadelphia Eagles organization.”

Philadelphia Magazine was the first to report that Agholor is the Eagles player who is involved in the investigation. The Philadelphia Eagles confirmed that they are aware of the police investigation involving Agholor in a brief statement made by Eagles spokesperson, Derek Boyko.
“We are aware of the police investigation involving Nelson Agholor. The organization has been in contact with Nelson and with the proper authorities in Philadelphia. Because of the legal nature of this matter, we will have no further comment.”
To this point, Agholor has not been charged with any sort of crime and has to be named as a suspect in the investigation. Philadelphia Magazine is also reporting that two other members of the Eagles were present at the strip club along with Agholor at the time of the alleged sexual assault, but their identities have not been released. The Eagles held their final practice of June minicamp on Thursday.
The 23-year-old Agholor was Philadelphia’s first-round draft selection out of USC in 2015 and caught 23 passes for 283 yards during his injury-shortened (ankle) rookie season. Agholor was expected to take on an even larger role for the Eagles in 2016 alongside Jordan Matthews, especially now that the Eagles are going to need to give rookie quarterback Carson Wentz and the always-fragile Sam Bradford all the help they can get as the Birds look to completely rebuild their offense.
It’s still too early in the investigation to make any assumptions on the matter, as something as serious as this deserves to have all the facts come out before the general public either labels Nelson Agholor as a rapist or the victim as a liar. Either way, this situation is not a good look for anybody right now. It’s shaping up to be a very long summer for Mr. Agholor before an even longer season takes place for the Philadelphia Eagles and their fans this fall.
