Two people are dead and the campus is on lockdown following a shooting at the University of California at Los Angeles, police say.
The search continues for an “active shooter” and students and staff have been told to shelter in place.
Police are investigating whether the gunman is among the dead. Two male victims were found inside a campus engineering building.
Hundreds of officers are at the scene and a city-wide alert has been issued.
A researcher working in the northern part of UCLA’s massive campus told BBC News she and her colleagues had barricaded themselves inside their building while the campus remains on lockdown.
