Megyn Kelly’s interview with Donald Trump is set to air next week on Fox and she gave a brief preview Monday on what’s to come when she appeared on “Live! With Kelly and Michael.”
People reports that in the video, Kelly asks Trump if his highly publicized animosity towards her was authentic or if it was a campaign strategy.
“Well, I’m a real person,” Trump answered. “I have great respect for you that you were able to call me and say, ‘Let’s get together, let’s talk.’ To me, I would not have done that.”
Trump has been open about saying he’s impressed with Kelly’s decision to call him up and agree to meet face-to-face at Trump Tower.
The highly anticipated interview is expected to draw a massive audience after the 8-month feud that has existed between the two since the August 2015 GOP presidential debates in which Kelly was one of the moderators. She called Trump out on his treatment of women. Trump wasted no time going on the defense, accusing her of being unfair to him.
Megyn said when there was a lull in the attacks in April, she reached out to Trump. She admitted that she wanted to reach out to him since the first debate, but he was so angry it wasn’t worth the effort until things hit a break in the mounted tension last month.
Watch the entire interview on “Megyn Kelly Presents” May 17 at 8 p.m., ET on the Fox News Channel.
