Dundee United keen on McKinnon as boss

Raith manager Ray McKinnon makes a point to his players

McKinnon enjoyed two spells at Dundee United during his playing career

Dundee United have placed the Raith Rovers boss Ray McKinnon at the top of their wanted list to replace Mixu Paatelainen after the Finn’s departure.

Dundee-born McKinnon, 45, had two spells at Tannadice as a player and has led Rovers into the Premiership play-offs in his first season as boss.

The Kirkcaldy club have intimated they will fight to hold on to McKinnon.

“We have not had any contact from Dundee United,” Rovers director Eric Drysdale told BBC Scotland.

“And should any be forthcoming it would be extremely unwelcome. Ray and the team are fully concentrated on the play-off matches against Hibernian and nothing will distract them from this.”

Raith face Hibernian at Stark’s Park in the first leg of their quarter-final on Wednesday.
