Bob’s Burgers will make another Archer connection this weekend when Chris Parnell guest stars as Warren Fitzgerald, the childhood friend of Bob Belcher (H. Jon Benjamin), in tonight’s episode “Pro Tiki/Con Tiki.”
On Archer, Parnell provides the voice for Cyril Figgis, the ISIS comptroller and occasional field agent who has a hate-hate relationship with Benjamin’s title character Sterling Archer. Therefore, animated TV buffs will probably get a kick out of watching them voice good buddies instead.
In “Pro Tiki/Con Tiki,” Warren comes to town and makes Bob an offer to invest in Bob’s Burgers. As he’s always strapped for cash, Bob is very interested in the idea of taking on his old friend as a partner – but starts to get cold feet when he finds out that Warren has some strong ideas about the interior design of the restaurant.
Meanwhile, Bob’s children must decide which one of them is going to give up their bedroom for their houseguest. Here’s a clip from the episode, in which Gene (Eugene Mirman), has his own ideas about that situation:
Animation fans know that Bob’s Burgers and Archer have crossed paths a few times over the years. The Archer episode “Fugue and Riffs” played on the fact that Benjamin voices the main characters on both shows, with an opening scene in which Archer has developed amnesia and believes that he’s Bob.
And in the multi-part Archer episode Sea Tunt, Mirman voiced Cecil Tunt, the rich but sketchy brother of Cheryl/Carol (Judy Greer). Cecil’s girlfriend Tiffy was played by Kristen Schaal, who provides the pipes of Bob’s daughter Louise on Bob’s Burgers.
“Pro Tiki/Con Tiki” marks the first time an Archer regular has jumped over to Bob’s Burgers, though. It leaves us wondering if this is just the beginning of future guest appearances.
Might we see Aisha Tyler or Amber Nash in an episode? Lucky Yates as another eccentric customer for Bob’s restaurant? Or Jessica Walter making an appearance as Bob’s domineering mother, perhaps squaring off with Linda’s mother Gloria? The possibilities are endless – and this week’s Bob’s Burgers should be a treat for any fan of either show.
Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays at 9:30 p.m. on FOX.
