Arizona fire crews battling massive five-alarm fire at apartment complex

Firefighters are battling a massive five-alarm fire in Arizona that broke out Saturday at a three-story apartment complex under construction.

The facility caught fire at around 6 p.m. Residents around the building in Gilbert were ordered to evacuate and police closed off roads around the inferno, the Arizona Republic reported.

Fire crews from Mesa, Chandler and Superstition were assisting the Gilbert Fire Department. According to KPHO-TV, fire officials said strong winds were driving the fire.

Residents were reporting that burning embers were falling onto properties miles from the blaze. However, no injuries were reported.

Officials said the cause of the fire is still unknown.
