Zac Brown found himself squarely in the middle of a drug bust scandal on April 8 at a South Florida hotel. The veracity of the story was unconfirmed in the beginning when initial news outlets reported on the incident.
According to a Facebook post, Zac confirmed everything about the drug bust of four individuals in a hotel room full of strippers, booze, and cocaine. Police were said to be “starstruck” by Zac and even asked for his autograph. Moreover, they lied on the police report – keeping his name out of the scandal.
Here’s what Zac Brown wrote on his Facebook Friday:
“My dad always said nothing good ever happens when you stay out late. It’s a lesson I learned the hard way last week, being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I attended a private gathering at a Miami-area hotel and had only been there for a short time when police officers arrived and arrested two people in the room who had just showed up a few minutes before. I did not know these people and had no idea that there were drugs in their possession. I cooperated fully with the authorities and am not part of any ongoing police investigation. Everyone is responsible for their actions, and I regret using poor judgment and putting myself in that position.
I am focused on continuing to make great music for my fans, and on representing my family and community well with our philanthropic work.
And next time I’ll make sure to remember what my dad taught me.
Sources informed TMZ that the incident took place at 2:30 a.m. at a Palm Beach hotel when four people were busted for marijuana and coke possession. Zac Brown was out with a friend earlier that evening, but he wasn’t aware strippers would show up minutes after he arrived.
The sources vehemently deny that Zac did anything wrong – emphatically stating he had nothing to do with the drugs or strippers.
TMZ goes on to report that police lied by saying there was no sign of Zac present in spite of his name being on the police report. One of the cops allegedly mocked one of the strippers for not knowing who Zac is.
There’s word that Zac asked the authorities to keep his name off the documents because he’s married and has children. Sources insist that it was the police who wanted to leave his name out.
As for the prescription medication that Zac had in the hotel room, he obtained the proof that cops needed that it was a valid doctor’s prescription. Police were suspicious when they saw pills that didn’t match the bottle. The drugs were prescribed to the singer after having minor surgery.
