Uber gave federal authorities data on 12 million riders and drivers

Uber released a report Tuesday detailing the information requested by federal authorities and federal regulators between July and December 2015.

According to Reuters, the ride-hailing company said that between that time span it had provided information on more than 12 million riders and drivers to various federal regulators and on nearly 500 users to state and federal law enforcement agencies.

The agencies had requested Uber to provide information on trips, trip requests, pick-up and drop-off areas, fares, vehicles and drivers, according to Reuters.

A number of law enforcement requests were related to fraud investigations, the report said. Uber said it had not received any national security requests.

The company has not given similar transparency reports on other countries’ requests.
