A crash in two-way traffic on a Northern California highway killed five people, authorities said late Saturday.
California Highway Patrol Officer Michael Bradley said two toddlers and three women were killed. One toddler died at a hospital and the other toddler and the women died at the scene of the accident.
Bradley said the victims were riding in a Honda Civic that collided with a Chevy Silverado at around 5:30 p.m. on State Route 12 near Rio Vista, about 40 miles southwest of Sacramento. The four people in the Silverado were taken to the hospital, but only suffered minor injuries.
Bradley says the Civic was passing other vehicles on the two-way highway and lost control as it tried to get back over in time. The Silverado then slammed into it.
The crash is still being investigated.
