JonBenet Ramsey Murder Case Re-Examined In CBS True Crime Series

If the true crime series The People v. O.J. Simpson captured your attention, another well-publicized JonBenét Ramsey murder case is coming to CBS later this year in the form of an unscripted series.

The body of six-year-old JonBenét was found in the basement of her family’s Boulder, Colorado home on December 24, 1996, eight hours after she was reported missing — the case remains unsolved almost 20 years later.

E! reports that the true crime series will include original investigators as well as new experts who will re-examine the murder that made headlines for years after Ramsey’s death.

When JonBenét’s body was found in her home in on Christmas Eve 1996, police determined that that she had been struck on the head and strangled to death.

Her parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, as well as her older brother, Burke (9) were initially named as suspects. In 1999, a Colorado grand jury had voted to indict the parents, but the district attorney stated that the evidence was insufficient and refused to sign the indictment.

The unscripted series on CBS is expected to air in the fall of 2016 and final negotiations for production are currently underway.
