“Deadliest Catch” season 12 premieres tonight with a lot of additions to the show. The veteran fishermen will be sharing the Bering Sea with young newcomers eager to show what they’re made of.
In the beginning of the preview video, various scenes of the veteran captains are shown in their younger years as budding fishermen.
Capt. Sig Hansen of the F/V Northwestern reveals in the sneak peek that the new captains aren’t displaying the level of fear they should.
“When I look around at the new guys, there is a lot of opportunity but not a lot of promise,” said Hansen “I don’t see as much fear as I would have hoped to see. They don’t seem fearful because in their mind, there is nothing to fear. At sea, you find out what a guy is made out of. Not everyone makes the cut.”

The youngest captain to join “Deadliest Catch” is Capt. Sean Dwyer, 23. He’s following in his late father’s footsteps on the Brenna A. Around fishing all of his life, Dwyer has never captained a boat. He embarks on the Bering Sea with an all-new crew ready to face the challenges that await them.
Jake Anderson has the opportunity to captain the F/V Saga, which was previously helmed by Capt. Elliott Neese. This season Anderson takes over the Saga with an all-new crew. As dangerous storms unleash its fury on the waters, Anderson says he knew they “signed up for this.”
As the preview for “Deadliest Catch” season 12 continues, Hansen explains that no one passes up the opportunity to become captain.
“What I do know is, if you get a shot to be a captain, you don’t pass it up,” he said.
In other sneak peek clips, Capt. Keith Colburn of The Wizard tells his crew to brace themselves for a violent wave that engulfs the whole deck, Capt. Anderson is seen yelling at one of his crew members, and the video ends with Capt. Sig Hansen wincing in pain while holding his chest.
