Cupcake, A Siamese Cat, Survives Eight Days In A Box After Being Accidentally Mailed Across Country

Cupcake the Siamese cat has been reunited with her owner after being accidentally mailed across the United Kingdom.

Owner Julie Baggot sent an order of DVDs from Cornwall in southwestern England to West Sussex in south-central England, and Cupcake somehow managed to become a stowaway.

The box’s recipient, Ziffit Towers, found a badly dehydrated Cupcake eight days later and contacted the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for help. Paul Treanor, eCommerce Director of, commented, “Our staff were worried but we called in the specialists and informed the owner who was more than a little relieved.”

A microchip helped reunite Cupcake with her owner, reports Grove Lodge Vets. Baggot, who felt horrible about the incident, told The Epoch Times on Sunday: “We looked everywhere for her.”

The veterinary hospital posted a photo of Cupcake back with her family on Facebook with the caption: “A very happy ending to an extraordinary story, all thanks to a microchip!”

One cat lover responded: “What an incredible story amazing that this beautiful cat survived it’s [sic] ordeal. Goes to show the importance of having our pets microchipped…”
