The director of the “Maze Runner,” Wes Ball, took to his Twitter to update fans on the condition of the film’s leading man, Dylan O’Brien.
The actor was seriously injured during filming of the movie series.
“Well, it’s been a whirlwind of emotions these past few days. I’ve been overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt,” Ball said in a handwritten note posted on the social media site.

“But, ultimately I find myself left with just a deep love and respect for Dylan. He is one tough cookie,” he continued.
“I’m sorry for the grief this accident has caused his friends and family as well as my wonderful cast and crew. It’s scary seeing your friend get hurt, but fortunately, Dylan is going to be just fine. After a few weeks of rest and recovery he’ll be back up and running to finish our adventure together.”
The actor was hurt while filming and sustained multiple broken bones on the set of “The Maze Runner: The Death Cure.”
The 24-year-old actor plays Thomas, the lead character in the franchise.
TMZ reported that the 24-year-old actor was run over by a car that was involved in the scene.
“Dylan O’Brien was injured yesterday while filming “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” in Vancouver, Canada,” 20th Century Fox said in a statement regarding the accident to Entertainment Tonight.
“He was immediately transferred to a local hospital for observation and treatment,” the statement concluded of the actor’s condition.
Rumor has it that production on the film has shut down until O’Brien recovers from his injuries.
Deadline reported that the actor, “apparently fell off the back of a set that was supposed to look like the back of a train and fractured either his cheekbone or orbital socket.”
O’Brien also stars on MTV’s series “Teen Wolf,” which is currently on hiatus.
