The new “Game of Thrones” trailer opens with those words hovering over the lifeless and bloody body of Jon Snow.
The much anticipated one minute and 40 second trailer was released by HBO on Tuesday and went beyond the question of whether Snow, who was last seen stabbed apparently to death, is alive or dead.
The trailer shows characters like Daenerys Targaryen and Arya Stark battling to survive, as their homeland of Westeros breaks out into fiery and icy chaos.
We see others like Cersei Lannister tattered and ragged from war, but refusing to back down.
“Order your man to step aside or there will be violence,” Brother Lancel tells Cersei in the trailer.
“I choose violence,” Cersei responds.
HBO has marketed the upcoming season of the Emmy-award winning fantasy drama by concentrating on the mystery of whether there will be a rebirth of Snow.
The new trailer takes that a step further introducing the story lines of the many characters that inhabit the world of the Seven Kingdoms.
The new trailer represents the first footage from “Game of Thrones” where the plot is unknown to all.
For its previous five seasons, those who read the George R.R. Martin book series that “Thrones” is based on had the advantage of knowing what to expect next.
But in this upcoming sixth season, the show has finally caught up to the books and could take viewers beyond what’s already been published in the “Song of Ice and Fire” series.
“Game of Thrones” stirred conversation on social media on Tuesday with some wondering if Snow is in fact dead how the show could still incorporate the beloved character played by Kit Harington.
“I’m dubious of ‘dead is dead,'” tweeted James Poniewozik, the TV critic for the New York Times, “But what if they just found a way to put Jon Snow’s corpse in every [episode]?”
The sixth season of “Game of Thrones” comes to life on April 24.
HBO is owned by Time Warner, which also owns CNNMoney.
