Bachelor fans were hoping to see Ben Higgins introduced as part of the Dancing with the Stars Season 22 lineup on Tuesday. However, the 27-year-old software salesman may have a very good reason for not appearing on the show — his wedding!
Although Ben recently told E! News that he wasn’t against “any opportunity that presents itself,” it appears that he turned down the DWTS gig, or simply wasn’t cast for the show. Not going on the show is a smart move all around — adding a dance competition to his to-do list may have put a strain on his new relationship and wedding plans with his fiancée.
That’s right, Ben’s already talking about a wedding and the Bachelor season finale is still a week away. However, Ben has been engaged since the final rose ceremony was taped in November, so can you blame him for getting excited about the next big step in his relationship?
So, when is Ben getting married and will he say “I do” on the live After the Final Rose special next week?
During Monday night’s Women Tell All special, Ben told host Chris Harrison that he is “more in love” than ever and went on to say that he would marry the woman he picked “tomorrow if I could.”
Although marrying his new fiancee won’t happen tomorrow or even the next day — Ben is free to do so after the season finale. While it’s totally possible that the network could air a quickie wedding on the After the Final Rose special air on March 14, it sounds like Ben wants to plan things out a little more carefully.
Before he ties the knot, Ben tells Extra TV that he owes the girl he picked some great dates and a vacation — after that, they would start making wedding plans because it’s “not something” they want to push off.
“I owe it to her to date her well, to treat her well, to take her on some great dates, to have some fun, maybe take a little vacation and then start talking wedding plans. Because it’s not something we want to push off.”
Spoilers indicate that Ben is engaged to Lauren Bushnell, but that won’t be confirmed until the finale airs next Monday. Whether it’s Lauren or JoJo, there’s a very good chance that because Ben’s season has been so popular, fans will get to see him tie the knot on TV.
If Lauren (JoJo?) and Ben beat the odds and stays together, expect to see a wedding special in the coming months. While there is speculation that it could happen before the Bachelorette premiere in May, perhaps Ben and his bride-to-be will play it smart and wait until at least the summer to make it official.
