Sunday night television is about to get much more crowded as ABC brings back two of its most popular original series plus a brand-new drama. Once Upon A Time kicks off ABC’s Sunday with its midseason premiere, “Souls of the Departed,” which is also the popular fantasy drama’s one-hundredth episode.
While the heroes arrive in the Underworld in hopes of rescuing Hook, “Souls of the Departed” also features a flashback to the Enchanted Forest and someone from the past of Regina (Lana Parilla). Guest stars in this episode include Greg Germann (Ally McBeal) as Hades, the return of Robbie Kay (Heroes Reborn) as Peter Pan, and Barbara Hershey as Cora. That airs at 8 p.m.
At 9 p.m. there’s the time slot premiere of the new drama The Family, starring Joan Allen (The Contender), Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights) and Alison Pill (The Newsroom) as members of a family who struggle when one son is returned after a ten-year disappearance. The show comes from Jenna Bans, one of the writers from ABC’s hit series Scandal.
Then at 10 p.m. it’s time for a new episode of last fall’s hit Quantico. Called “Alex,” the episode sees Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra) called to testify at a Congressional hearing, while still convinced that there are terrorist co-conspirators and more answers left for her to find. Of course there are, because it would be a short season otherwise!
These three shows are going up against fresh installments of the CBS originals (Madam Secretary, The Good Wife and CSI: Cyber), as well as a new The Walking Dead at 9 p.m., HBO’s lineup of Vinyl and Girls, Showtime’s Shameless and Billions, and FOX’s block of animation including Bob’s Burgers and The Simpsons.
Basically, if it airs on Sundays, it’s airing a new episode tonight – meaning that fans are going to have to program their DVR’s or make some tough choices. What will you be watching tonight? Let us know in the comments.
