Reporter Jessica Moran, who covers the Red Sox for Comcast SportsNet, has resigned after rumors about a possible relationship with Sox team’s manager, John Farrell.
“I have stepped away from Comcast SportsNet as I thought it was in my best personal and professional interest to do so,” Moran wrote in a text to the Globe. “They have been extremely supportive during my tenure at the network — and with this decision — and I am very appreciative of that.”
Moran also worked as an anchor. He’s been with SportsNet since 2009.
She didn’t comment on the nature of the relationship.
Several reporters have been speculating about Farrell’s relationship with Moran, according to the Boston Globe.
Farrell declined to comment on Friday. However, he did say that he and his wife, Sue are getting divorced. He claims they have been separated for two years.
The couple have been married for 30 years and have three boys.
“I can confirm that we’re in the process of getting a divorce,” Farrell said in a phone call from Fort Myers. “As you can understand, this is a tough time for my family.”
Moran has also deleted her Twitter account.
Baseball player Will Middlebrooks and reporter Jenny Dell began a relationship while she was covering the Red Sox and he played third base. However, she continued to work until her network took revoked her assignment. The pair married on Valentine’s Day.
