BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Forecasters say a possible tornado has left a trail of damage southwest of Birmingham.
National Weather Service meteorologist Jason Holmes said the storm hit early Tuesday evening near Bessemer, about 115 miles southwest of Birmingham.
Holmes says the weather service is receiving early reports of vehicles damaged and trees down, but so far has heard no reports of deaths or injuries.
The possible twister touched down near Interstate 459 and tracked close to the Bent Brook Golf Club.
Holmes says the weather service will send a storm survey crew later to determine if the damage was caused by a tornado.
