Raheem Sterling will handle the Anfield pressure when he returns for the first time as a Manchester City player, says Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini.
Sterling, who left Liverpool in a £44m move last summer, has been told he will start Wednesday’s Premier League game.
“I have 100% trust in Raheem,” said Pellegrini. “I don’t have any doubts.
“It is important for him to play under pressure. Big players must always play under pressure. It doesn’t matter where they play or who they play against.”
City came out on top in a penalty shootout when the two teams met in Sunday’s League Cup final at Wembley.
This time, league points are at stake as the Blues look to close the gap on surprise leaders Leicester.
Pellegrini’s side lie fourth in the table with 12 matches remaining, nine points behind the Foxes but with a game in hand.
