Stacey Dash Oscars Cameo Put ‘A’ In Awkward: Skit Falls Short As Celebs Cringe At ‘Help My People’ Quip

Stacey Dash

At the 88th Academy Awards gala, Stacey Dash made a cameo that nearly upstaged Chris Rock’s diversity monologues. Most sites are calling the Clueless actress’ appearance and quip at the Oscars boycott, “cringeworthy.”

Rock, as only he can do, introduced a special Oscars guest to discuss the mounting loud outcries from the public over the Academy’s alleged history of snubbing black actors and actresses, citing a USA Today report.

“The Academy has taken steps to fix this problem (of lacking diversity). That is why it is my honor to introduce the new director of our minority outreach program.

“Please welcome, Miss Stacey Dash.”

Then the bottom fell out of the moment as Dash was welcomed with lukewarm applause.

“I cannot wait to help my people out. Happy Black History Month!”

Her 10 seconds seemed like an eternity to celebrities in the audience.

A shot of Chrissy Teigen’s face told the story and rapper, the Weeknd, did his best to hide his discontent, to no avail.

Dash, a Fox commentator, who is known for her pushback against the Black Lives Matter movement, Black History Month and the boycott of the Oscars, appeared stunned by the lack of love.

After the Stacey Dash’s Oscars fallout over her appearance and ill-attempted poke at complaints about a lack of diversity, Dash published a blog post and responded to critics.

“When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not ‘black enough,’ they say. But guess what? I’ve heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks — and votes — just like all my friends.”

Dash, 49, said if African-Americans don’t want segregation, channels like BET (Black Entertainment Television) and the Image Awards must get off the air.

Recently, in a segment of Fox Friends, Dash blasted Jada Pinkett Smith’s denunciation of this year’s “all-white” Oscars. Then, Will Smith’s wife suggested a boycott of the Academy Awards until the organization does more to recognize the talents, achievements, and contributions from black artists. Dash hit out at the so-called “color” awards.

“You’re only awarded if you’re black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard, just like there shouldn’t be a Black History Month. We’re Americans, period, that’s it.

The outspoken self-proclaimed Republican Conservative disavows the holiday and believes it does more to support racial division than to tear it down. She then politicized race relations by taking a shot a Barack Obama.

“What I found astounding is that we’ve had a president who is black in office for the past eight years, who gets most of his funding from the liberal elite in Hollywood, yet, there are not many roles for people of color. How can that be and why is just now being addressed?”

One thing is for sure; Stacy Dash’s cringeworthy cameo at the Oscars won’t get her an invite on Lip Sync Battle anytime soon.
