Ryan Reynolds Spoofs Kanye West’s ‘SNL’ Backstage Rant In Character As ‘Deadpool’

Kanye West has been taking a lot of flack for his recent meltdown backstage at Saturday Night Live but Kanye’s rampage pales in comparison to the one that was unleashed on Friday by actor Ryan Reynolds, better known these days as the man behind the foul-mouthed superhero ‘Deadpool.’

Reynolds, whose movie is currently breaking box office records, released a very NSFW video spoofing West’s rant while in character as ‘Deadpool’.

“Listen up, Lorne Michaels. SNL took my f—ing Life of Pablo album without asking. Now I’m bummed,” he says in the video, which includes several pictures parodying SNL‘s signature bumper photos. “Imma break the motherf—ing internet.”

Reynolds/Deadpool then makes fun of West’s often egotistical attitude by pointing out how well his own movie is doing.

“I’ve got the biggest opening rated-R movie of all time. Are they f—ing crazy? I’m 50 percent more influential than MC Hammer, Apostle Judas Iscariot, the KIA Sorrento, 10 percent more influential than Barbara Bush, the Muppets, Bob Newhart. 60 percent more influential than the iPhone 5, shredded cheese and Dr. Ruth, 7 percent less influential than the Urban Dictionary.”

The clip, which was designed to sound like it was secretly recorded, follows its source material pretty faithfully, complete with a joking reference to “Rip Taylor, fake ass.”

While Reynolds’ video is serving as a pretty nice extra piece of viral marketing for the still-in-theaters ‘Deadpool,’ it also arrives at the same time that many ‘Deadpool’ fans have been petitioning for SNL to let Reynolds host an episode of the show in character, according to US Weekly. The Change.org petition currently has more than 70,000 signatures.

There’s been no word yet on who actually leaked the initial recording of Kanye, but sources close to the show have said that Kanye’s rant went down while he was addressing his own inner crew and not anyone from the SNL cast or staff. But Page Six reported that West did skip out on the afterparty after his freak out and that the meltdown was the number one topic of conversation for those who were in attendance.

‘Deadpool’ pulled in another $55 million this weekend, bringing it to $235 million and counting in domestic sales.
