Emily Maynard can’t believe she appeared on “The Bachelorette” after her debut on “The Bachelor” with Brad Womack in season 15 didn’t work out.
Mayard appeared on season 8 of “The Bachelorette” in the hopes that a second shot at finding love in the ABC franchise would pan out. Unfortunately it didn’t. She got engaged to Jef Holm, but it wasn’t meant to be. She finally met and married Tyler Johnson in July 2014. They now have a son who joins Emily’s 10-year-old daughter, Ricki. Ricki’s father is her mother’s late fiance, Ricky Hendrick. He died in a plane crash in 2004.
According to Us, Emily Maynard looks back and wonders why she attempted to find love twice on ABC. Her book, I Said Yes: My Story of Heartbreak, Redemption, and True Love is due out March 1. It the memoir, she writes that the hope she had that she might find the right person surpassed her gut feeling that the show wasn’t right for her.
“I still look back, and I think, ‘What in the world?'” the 30-year-old mentions of her time on the show. “My girlfriend and I would watch the show and just laugh [and say], ‘Who would ever agree to do this?’ And I still watch it, and I think, after all the embarrassing things that happen on this TV show, ‘Who in their right mind would ever agree to do this show, much less twice, like I did?'”
Maynard goes on to say that she was searching so hard for something and desperate to fill a void in her life, that she was”open to anything.”
“I thought that I would go on the show and hopefully find the love of my life, and everything would be perfect. I just had such a hole in my heart that I was trying to fill, and I thought maybe that was the answer. Clearly, it wasn’t.”
