Ohio police shot and killed a man Thursday night who was suspected of attacking several people at a restaurant with a machete.
Columbus police said the man walked into a Mediterranean restaurant and attacked several people. At least six people were injured in the attack, according the Columbus Dispatch. But police haven’t confirmed an official total.
My Fox 28 Columbus reported that two of the victims were taken to the hospital were in critical condition.
Police said the man initially fled the scene, but police said officers caught up to him and fatally shot him. A dispatcher told the Columbus Dispatch that the suspect died at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center. The man has not been identified.
It’s unclear what sparked the alleged attacks, but a witness told My Fox 28 Columbus the scene in the restaurant was pure “carnage” and it seemed like a “systematic attack.”
Another witness told the paper there was a lot of blood on the sidewalk outside the restaurant.
The investigation is still ongoing.
