Suits fans got the moment they’d been waiting for on Wednesday when super-assistant Donna Paulsen declared that she was returning to work for her longtime boss and best friend Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht).
How does Donna feel about going back to Harvey? And what’s the big development that’s going to come out of her past in this week’s episode? Starpulse spoke to Sarah Rafferty during our recent set visit in Toronto to find out the answers to those questions and more.
“I think you’re going to be surprised at how the dynamic shifts,” she told us. “There’s one way we’d assume that would be and somebody’s going to show a different side of themselves. That’s very fulfilling for me as a viewer of the show, I was excited about that.
“Heading back to Harvey is, it’s like getting on a bike,” Sarah added. “Heading back it’s so familiar, it’s just such a comfortable place, so that’s great. But something’s going to happen and her faith is going to be tested a little bit.”
“You’re going to find that she’s really knocked off her game because her personal life is dragged into it,” she revealed. “Her father is introduced and there’s a little bit of history there with Harvey. Donna’s a little bit more vulnerable than usual.”
That vulnerability makes her question her partnership with Harvey almost right after they’ve come back together. “She has a momentary lapse in where her loyalties should lie in her life,” Sarah explained.
“She’s not thinking clearly and she sort of takes some stuff out on Rachel. They have a really strong friendship, so what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
