Today I’d like to talk to you about family. I have learned over my 42 years that family is very important. I was raised by my Mom and have three sisters. My dad died when I was little so Mom did the best she could. I have a couple of Aunts and Uncles that helped to take care and raise us girls. I have had a wonderful upbringing and am very grateful for all of the love I have received.
If you read my earlier entry, you will know that my Mom had open heart surgery this week. My family has once again pulled together. Two of my sisters have traveled up to Minnesota to take care of Mom. My other sister and I will do our best to take care of Mom after she comes back home. I can’t imagine not helping her after all she’s done for me all of these years.
Family is very important. Brothers and sisters, cousins and aunts and uncles. Everybody needs to play their part. When somebody is in need, we all pull together. This is what we have done. I am so proud to be in a family so close.
I have talked and talked to my kids about the importance of family and I don’t think they really get it.
My son once said to me “Why do I need to keep in touch with Aunts and Uncles? How can they benefit me?” As many stories as I share, as many pictures as I show, I am now convinced that until he starts to realize that the love of family is the best there is, and that your family will be there for you for anything that you need, whenever you need it. Only time will prove my theory to him. He will learn.
