NEW YORK (Reuters) – Greenwich Village, the birthplace of the U.S. gay rights movement, remained in shock on Sunday over the shooting death of a gay man by a gunman who police said uttered anti-gay slurs before targeting the victim.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s top aide has resigned over his role in a growing expenses scandal.
Nigel Wright quit after revelations he had secretly given a senator a C$90,000 (£58,000; $87,000) cheque to help repay improperly claimed housing expenses.

Cornyn: Culture of cover-ups
Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn called out the Obama administration on Sunday for what he believes is a “culture of cover-ups.”
Appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” the Texas Republican said it was implausible for White House not to know about the IRS targeting tea party groups. He had inquired in 2010 and 2011 for constituents in Waco, Houston and San Antonio who felt they were being unfairly targeted.

Two men arrested in killing over iPad in Las Vegas
Two men have been arrested in the killing of a teenage boy over an iPad in Las Vegas, police said Sunday.
Jacob Dismont, 18, and Michael Solid, 21, were booked Saturday into the Clark County jail on charges of open murder, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
According to investigators, Marcos Arenas, 15, was walking down a street with the iPad on Thursday when a passenger got out of a vehicle and tried to steal the device from him.
