NY art dealer tied to forgeries charged with tax fraud

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Federal prosecutors on Tuesday charged a New York art dealer with tax fraud in connection with the sale of paintings she claimed to be the works of celebrated abstract expressionists, but some of which the government said were fakes.
Glafira Rosales, 56, faces three counts of filing false tax returns and five counts of concealing a Spanish bank account from the Internal Revenue Service.

DBS chief executive Piyush Gupta is looking to expand further into emerging markets
Singapore’s DBS Group has received approval to buy a 40% stake in Indonesia’s Bank Danamon, more than a year after it launched a multi-billion dollar takeover bid.
DBS had originally offered about $6.8bn (£4.5bn) for full control of Danamon.
However, the deal was delayed after Indonesian regulators moved to limit foreign ownership in local lenders.

Tunis (Reuters) – A 66-year-old Tunisian man has died from new coronavirus, a strain of a virus that emerged in the Middle East last year, after a visit to Saudi Arabia, the health ministry said on Tuesday.
The man, a diabetic, died in hospital in the city of Monastir, ministry spokesman Ibrahim Labassi said. It was the first death in Tunisia from the virus.

Boko Haram has been demanding the release of suspects
Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the release of all women held in connection with “terrorist activity”, the defence ministry says.
