PHOENIX (Reuters) – The foreman of an Arizona jury that deadlocked over whether Jodi Arias should be put to death for murdering her ex-boyfriend believes she was mentally abused, but said on Friday that had not been enough to excuse her crime.
Arias, a former waitress from California, was found guilty this month of murdering Travis Alexander, whose body was found slumped in the shower of his Phoenix-area home in June 2008. He had been stabbed 27 ti [...]

INDIANAPOLIS – They raced 1-2-3 in line, trading the lead a whopping 15 times over the final, frantic 75 laps. All three drivers had a last-lap plan in mind when they zipped past the white flag, and it was Takuma Sato who acted first with a bold move for the win.
Sato pulled out of line, dipped inside of Dario Franchitti and tried to pounce as they headed into the first turn. Scott Dixon watched and waited from third, figuring he was now in position to slingshot past both for the victory.
Instead, Sato and Franchitti nearly touched. Sat [...]

Fuel Cells Could Offer Cheap Carbon-Dioxide Storage
The electrochemical reactions that occur inside fuel cells to generate electricity could provide a cheap way to selectively remove carbon dioxide from the exhaust gases of fossil-fuel power plants. The same reactions could concentrate the carbon dioxide, allowing it to be stored underground. The fuel cell could also be used to generate electricity, providing revenue to offset its cost.
Existing approaches to capturing carbon dioxide would nearly double the cost of electricity from a coal-fired power plant. And although using fuel cells i [...]

Bayern dare not think of surrendering Champions League to Dortmund
There was a moment, as Thomas Müller sat on the top table at Wembley and looked far too relaxed for a man about to play one of the biggest games of his life, when the expression on his face conveyed the bemusement you might expect if he had just been asked to announce his pin number in the middle of a press conference. In fact, he had just been asked whether Bayern Munich had any weaknesses.
“Weaknesses?” Müller replied. “Maybe that is a question for Dortmund. I don’t think we have any weaknesses at all.”
