Rescuers comb Oklahoma tornado rubble for buried survivors

MOORE, Oklahoma (Reuters) – Rescue workers with sniffer dogs and searchlights combed through the wreckage of a massive tornado to ensure no survivors remained buried in the rubble of primary schools, homes and buildings in an Oklahoma City suburb.
The massive tornado on Monday afternoon flattened blocks of the town, killed at least 24 people and injured about 240 in Moore, just outside Oklahoma City.

A man has been charged with the murder of four soldiers in the 1982 IRA bombing in Hyde Park, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.

West Bromwich Albion have released the winger Jerome Thomas and defender Gonzalo Jara Reyes, while a quartet of players have been told they could still have a future at the club.

LONDON (Reuters) – The U.S. government has signed an antibiotics development deal worth up to $200 million with GlaxoSmithKline to tackle the dual threats of drug resistance and bioterrorism.
The collaboration, the first of its kind between Washington and a drug company, will allow funding to move around GSK’s antibiotics portfolio rather than focusing on a single drug candidate.

Lebanese soldiers have been patrolling major roads in the capital
At least 10 people have died and 70 have been wounded in the latest round of sectarian violence in Lebanon’s capital, Tripoli.
Four people were killed overnight in fighting between Alawite supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Sunnis, who back the Syrian opposition.

Tornado victims may face long haul with insurers
Many Oklahomans are picking through the ruins of their homes looking for belongings and figuring out how much they’ve lost.
The tornado that struck the Moore, Okla., area Monday afternoon left an almost 2-mile wide path of destruction, flattening homes and businesses and taking at least 24 lives.
