Gif, also known as Jif
Name: Gif.
Age: 26.
Appearance: A cat falling into a toilet, for ever.
Why are we talking about Gifs? Is one trending on Twitter? Is it a girl bouncing on a trampoline without a bra again? Nope, it’s the inventor of the Gif, Steven Wilhite.
Steven Wilhite has been bouncing on a trampoline without a bra? Get your mind out of the gutter. He has been voicing his concern that we have all been mispronouncing the word “Gif” for the past two decades.
Have we? You mean people exist in this world who say the word “Gif” [...]
Man with ties to Boston bombing suspect shot during FBI questioning
A man with ties to the Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was shot and killed by an FBI agent while being questioned in Florida, law enforcement officials said on Wednesday.
The man who was shot, Ibragim Todashev, 27, was not suspected of having played any role in the bombing that killed three people and injured scores more in April, they said.
Instead, law enforcement officials said Todashev was being questioned as part of the FBI’s effort to find and talk to anyone who had any contact with Tsarnaev, the older bombing susp [...]

The clashes are the first since the M23 pulled out [...]
Nobody puts baby food in a corner
As a health nut and foodie, 36-year-old Shazi Visram had a problem with processed baby food. Namely, it was gross, and people felt bad about feeding it to their kids.
But most parents are pressed for time and don’t have alternatives to mushed meals in glass jars. So, after attending business school at Columbia University in New York, Visram drafted a business plan and ultimately launched her own baby food company on Mother’s Day in 2006. She called the company Happy Baby, and it sold organic, nutrient-enhanced baby food in [...]

COPD May Be Over-Diagnosed Among Uninsured
WEDNESDAY, May 22 (HealthDay News) — Roughly four in 10 uninsured patients who have been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) actually do not have the lung disease, a small new study suggests.
At issue: Faulty diagnoses were made based on an evaluation of symptoms, rather than by means of the so-called “gold standard” disease test known as spirometry, which shows how well a patient’s lungs are working by measuring the amount of air they can exhale and how long that takes.

3 Robots That Want To Save Your Life
Thanks to their mechanical strength and ability to operate in conditions too dangerous for humans, robots are poised to become the rescuers of the future. Here are three promising designs that could soon work alongside first responders to save lives after a disaster.
1. CHIMP: Carnegie Mellon scientists are designing a robot monkey tank, above, to climb ladders, roll over rubble, and most importantly, open doors. Designed to work in human-sized spaces, CHIMP will be partially autonomous, which means it should be able to navigate thr [...]

Even small business is bigger in Texas
When you think of Texas businesses, large corporations like Exxon Mobil (XOM, Fortune 500), Dell (DELL, Fortune 500), and Texas Instruments (TXN, Fortune 500) are generally the first that come to mind. But over the past few years, from the inner cities to out-on-the-range, smaller firms have been stirring the Lone Star State economy.
As more entrepreneurs flock to the state, experts are pointing to a combination of growth-friendly conditions that have small businesses growing in, and messing with, Texas.
