New York city could experience up to 22% more deaths from extreme summertime heat in the coming decade under global warming, according to a study of the impact of climate trends.
The higher deaths will be partially offset by a reduction in deaths due to the milder winters predicted in Manhattan.

McConnell: Tale ‘made up’ about Benghazi
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell charged on Sunday the Obama administration “made up a tale” about the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in fall 2012 because it “was inconvenient within six weeks of the election for the administration to, in effect, announce that it was a terrorist attack.”
NBC “Meet the Press” host David Gregory also asked McConnell about the talk of impeachment from some Republicans over Benghazi and their accusation it was a “massive cover-up.”

Lord’s proves a treacherous place for New Zealand’s batsmen | Vic Marks
So Lord’s is the new Headingley. OK, the pavilions do not have much in common and the maroon trouser with cheeks to match are seldom in evidence at Leeds. But Lord’s is a place where mystical forces can suddenly coincide to make batting seemingly impossible. Now it can be a more treacherous place than Yorkshire’s ground, where the two sets of players, surprisingly well-rested, will reconvene for the second Test.
It would have been a reasonable proposition for the punter to have a Sunday-morning lie-in, to potter down to [...]
IRS special counsel debated
Several members of Congress appearing Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” discussed whether the administration’s current attempts to handle the IRS controversy will be enough or if a special counsel is needed.
Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) said the new acting IRS commissioner may be conducting a 30 day, top-down review, but that’s simply not enough to tackle what’s been happening in the IRS.
“I think a special counsel is going to wind up being necessary,” he said.
Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), meanwhile, said he doesn’t believe a special co [...]
